Position Overview
We are excited to present a fantastic opportunity for a Chief Accounting Officer at our client in the automotive industry.
Purpose of the Position
The Head of Accounting will oversee all daily finance operations, supervise staff, and have functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, and financial reporting. They will ensure systems and procedures support effective program implementation and facilitate flawless audits.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the Accounting Section, including monthly reporting, annual audits, and planning processes; coordinate external audit activities.
- Contribute to the budgeting process, ensuring reporting systems reflect actual, budget, and forecast data; monitor progress and inform senior leadership of financial status.
- Oversee accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with IFRS, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Manage financial projects, system changes, and developments.
- Supervise the Accounts Payable team, ensuring timely payments and monitoring aging reports in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Treasury for cash flow planning and financial position assessment.
- Lead financial project implementations and establish supportive finance and administrative systems.
- Mentor and develop the accounting team, managing work allocation, training, performance, and team dynamics.
- Manage the company's tax portfolio, ensuring compliance with VAT, Corporate Income Tax, Transfer Pricing, Customs duties, and other relevant regulations.
- Oversee preparation of Annual Financial Statements for the company and subsidiaries.
- Develop tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational insights to the CFO, offering strategic and operational recommendations.
- Monitor compliance with group policies and maintain good relationships with regional offices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Postgraduate degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification or equivalent professional qualification.
Skills and Competencies
- Financial Management: Expertise in financial health oversight, data interpretation, and decision-making.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze financial data effectively.
- Accounting Skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, and industry-specific standards.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Problem-solving: Capable of resolving financial issues efficiently.
- Computer Literacy: Proficient in finance software, especially SAP and ERP systems.
- Attention to Detail and Strategic Planning skills are also essential.
Experience
- Minimum of 10 years in accounting, preferably within the automotive sector.
- Extensive experience in financial management, reporting, analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Familiarity with legal and financial regulations, coordinating with legal, tax, and financial professionals.
- Proven leadership in managing and developing accounting teams.
- Knowledge of automotive industry specifics and financial operations is advantageous.
