Job summary
A recruitment agency is seeking a Mechanical Engineer in Secunda, Mpumalanga. The ideal candidate will have a B Eng / BSc Eng degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in detail design and engineering. The role involves working on new plants and solving machinery problems in the petrochemical industry. Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills are required. Registration with ECSA is an advantage.

- Experience in detail design and engineering of equipment.
- Ability to manage project financials with examples.
Responsibilities
- Exposure to detail design and engineering of new plants.
- Perform calculations based on first principles.
- Assist in project management during plant shutdown periods.

- Minimum of B Eng / BSc Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering (4-year full time study).
- Minimum 5 years experience in detail design, drafting or modelling.
- Experience in detail design and engineering of equipment with hands‑on experience or proper exposure to the manufacturing of own designs. Candidates to demonstrate their abilities by means of examples.
- Be able to demonstrate a drive to quality and balance with schedule pressure.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate a self‑drive to get tasks done and to manage the financials for their projects. Be able to share by means of examples.
- Leadership and organizational skills, be able to work independently and in a team, self‑starter, "go‑getter".
- Good interpersonal relations with the ability to market services.
- Good report writing skills in the English language.
- Organized and self‑disciplined.
- Valid drivers license with own transport (Code B / EB).
- Be registered / in the process of registration as a Professional Engineer at ECSA will be an advantage.
Engineers will be exposed to the detail design and engineering of new plants and of solutions to problems experienced with machinery and pressurized equipment in the petrochemical field. Design work will involve the use of various software tools and will also require the engineer to perform calculations based on first principles. With projects execution and especially during plant shutdown periods, engineers will also help the project teams with the project- and construction management.
