Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Commerce (or equivalent) in accounting / financial management with 10+ years of relevant experience
- SAICA / SAIPA membership (preferred), completed articles required
- Advanced Excel, and Power BI (advantage)
- Willingness to work under strict deadlines, occasional overtime
- Expertise in month-end closing, reconciliations, and financial controls
- Knowledge of IFRS for SMEs, auditing, taxation (Corporate Tax, VAT, etc.)
- Familiarity with SARS e-Filing, SAGE Payroll, Xero, Draftworx / CaseWare
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of 2-4 staff
- Manage financial accounting, reporting, tax, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, invoicing, and controls
- Oversee cash flow, risk management, and compliance
- Liaise with Exco and manage complex transactions
- Identify areas for cost reduction by analysing expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Manage cash flow and liquidity
- Invest idle cash to maximise returns
- Maintain relationships with banks and financial institutions
- Monitor and manage foreign exchange requirements and risk
- Develop financial policies and governance frameworks and ensure compliance
- Prepare timely annual financial statements for approval by the Board and Shareholders
- Coordinate external audits and liaison with external auditors
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs
- Utilise technology to automate routine transactions to improve efficiency
- Lead by example and foster a culture of compassion and empathy within the Finance team
- Identify the professional development needs of the Finance team
