Global mining company is seeking a seasoned IT manager with mining sector experience to join their team.

The incumbent will be responsible for creating the IT infrastructure for the mine where none exists and managing the department independently. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable of the mining industry and requirements, have strong leadership/managerial skills, and above all, hands-on experience in developing IT infrastructure from scratch in a more remote location.

1. National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or similar qualification.
3. Honour’s Degree in Information Technology or similar qualification.
4. Certificates in CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ etc., advantageous.
5. Valid Driver’s License.

1. Minimum 8 years’ experience as an IT Manager in the Mining Industry.
2. Experience in IT Equipment Maintenance.
3. Experience in Turnstiles, Access Control etc.
4. Experience in Office Network, PC, Laptop etc.
5. Experience working on a Green Fields / Start-up Mine.
6. Experience with IT systems on a 5G Mine advantageous.

1. Advanced Computer Literacy.
2. Extensive knowledge working with Microsoft Office 2016, 2019, or Office 365 and all Microsoft Office programmes.
3. Diverse knowledge of computer and server hardware.
4. Expertise in IT tools and concepts, such as operating systems and internet protocol suites.
5. Solid knowledge of LAN / WAN configurations.
6. Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills critical.
7. 5G mining.
8. In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems, networks, and software, includes administrative and end user knowledge.
9. Excellent knowledge of security and data privacy principles.
10. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical personnel.
11. Programming Languages and operating systems.
12. Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to quickly analyse complex situations to address operational challenges and resolve issues.
13. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to create a positive and productive work environment and effectively manage a team.
14. Exceptional communication and presentation skills for effectively conveying technical information to various audiences and diverse stakeholders.
15. Capable of assisting/guiding employees who do not have extensive knowledge and experience in computer systems.
16. Adaptable to changing circumstances and willing to take responsibility and initiative.
17. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and effectively collaborate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
