You are the first port of call for participant schools. You liaise with the teacher in charge of the programme and ensure that SHAWCO Law has a great partnership with the schools. Additionally you must ensure that register is taken of students and volunteers at each session.
Duties :
- Liaise with Community Directors on sourcing schools. Depending on what route you and your Director choose you may or may not want to collaborate with Community Directors to find good schools to run the SHAWCO Law programme. Often Community Directors have knowledge on schools that have had the opportunity to have the SHAWCO Law programme run in their schools.
- Shortlist schools that fit the mandate of the SHAWCO Law Programme. This will require collaboration with your Director and Team members. You all have a shared vision of how you want the programme to take shape and thus should shortlist schools accordingly.
- Reach out to the shortlisted schools and pitch the programme. Aim to get in contact to the Heads of the schools (including the Principal and Outreach Programme liaison. You will probably will also need to get in contact with the IT technician to ensure the smooth running of the sessions).
- Meet up with the Heads of schools and discuss the programme to those schools that have shown interest in it. Once all parties are in agreement confirm schools that will be onboard by drafting and sending a confirmation letter.
- Keep up communication between schools and your team on any concerns praises developments or updates that have been made with regard to the programme and weekly sessions. This will have to be done for the rest of your tenure as a Participants Relations Coordinator.
- Remember your primary role is to be the goto person when communicating with schools. You need to foster a good working relationship with the relevant people at your chosen schools.
Requirements :
- Be a registered UCT law student in the academic year(s).
- Completion of the Constitutional Law course (PBL200W).
- Be committed to the mission of SHAWCO organization.
- Have excellent interpersonal organizational communication skills.
- Be passionate about community development.
- Having previous experience in leadership specifically within SHAWCO would be advantageous.
- Be in good academic standing.
