The Project Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of project delivery across projects in Southern Africa. This role manages multiple Project Managers and ensures seamless coordination with clients, contractors, internal teams, and leadership.
Minimum Requirements
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project Director on major infrastructure projects for well-established enterprises and leading teams of Project Managers.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager prior to Project Director level, managing large infrastructure projects with a strong focus on wind farm projects.
- Wind industry and Southern Africa experience is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of people management, project management methodologies, and commercial management.
- Demonstrated courage to challenge, drive continuous improvement, and maintain high performance standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to)
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for all projects from development through construction to handover.
- Establish and maintain robust project governance, reporting, and decision-making frameworks.
- Serve as the primary interface with clients, investors, lenders, and key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, local authorities, and community stakeholders.
- Oversee project planning, scheduling, and execution across all phases.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, including technical, commercial, safety, and schedule risks.
- Ensure strong commercial understanding of the project and contract requirements.
- Ensure all contractual obligations are understood, managed and aligned with the project strategy.
- Oversee cost control, budget adherence, and commercial risk mitigation.
- Lead the project team to safely deliver a project within schedule and budget.
- Ensure successful project execution in line with business, operational, and contractual commitments.
- Contribute actively to building and strengthening the project’s safety culture.
- Lead and manage the team of Project Managers across Africa to ensure alignment and delivery on project goals.
- Mentor and develop team members, using local and past project knowledge to bring lessons learned and improve project performance.
- Act as the main point of contact for all customer interactions.
- Build strong customer relationships to ensure smooth project execution.
- Manage and resolve project issues or roadblocks promptly.
