Job summary

Placements24 seeks a proactive Programme Development Officer based in Tembisa, Gauteng, to design, implement and oversee youth-focused programs. You will work with schools, community groups and agencies to ensure impactful initiatives aligned with NGO goals.

The role requires 4+ years in program design and management, strong grant-writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects while engaging communities and stakeholders effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Education, Development Studies, or related field; Master's degree an advantage.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in program design, development and management in NGO context.
• Demonstrated experience in needs assessment, project planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Excellent understanding of youth development and community dynamics in the South African context.
• Strong proposal writing and grant management skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis and reporting using relevant software.
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
• Must be resident of or have strong ties to Tembisa, Gauteng, or willing to relocate.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design and develop new programs aligned with mission and objectives.
• Oversee implementation of existing programs, ensuring timelines, budgets and quality.
• Conduct needs assessments and feasibility studies for expansion and innovation.
• Build partnerships with schools, community centres, government agencies and other orgs.
• Monitor progress, collect data and prepare reports on activities and impact.
• Manage program budgets and ensure financial accountability.
• Facilitate training sessions for staff, volunteers and beneficiaries.
• Assist in grant proposals and reports to support fundraising.
• Stay updated on best practices in youth development and NGO program management.
