Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a charismatic Winery Tour Guide & Tasting Assistant in Stellenbosch to welcome visitors, conduct engaging tours of the vineyard and production areas, and present our wines with passion.

You will educate guests on the winemaking process, lead tasting sessions, and ensure a memorable experience for both international and local guests while maintaining the highest hospitality standards in a stunning Cape setting.

Qualifications

• Passion for wine with understanding of viticulture/enology.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
• Experience as a tour guide or in customer-facing roles preferred.
• Knowledge of local wine regions and grape varietals is a plus.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Conduct informative and entertaining wine tours through vineyards and production facilities.
• Lead engaging wine tastings, describing flavour profiles and pairings.

About the Role

Our client, a renowned vineyard and winery in the heart of the Stellenbosch winelands, is seeking a charismatic and knowledgeable Winery Tour Guide & Tasting Assistant to enhance visitor experiences. You will lead engaging tours, educate guests about the winemaking process and our exquisite wines, and conduct professional wine tastings. This role is essential in showcasing the unique heritage and quality of our wines to an international and local clientele, contributing to the renowned reputation of the Western Cape wine region. The ideal candidate possesses a passion for wine and exceptional communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct informative and entertaining wine tours, guiding guests through vineyards and production facilities.
• Lead engaging wine tasting sessions, describing flavour profiles, pairings, and the characteristics of each wine.
• Educate visitors on the history of the winery, grape varietals, and the winemaking process.
• Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and ensuring a memorable experience for all guests.
• Assist with the setup and breakdown of tasting areas and ensure cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained.

Requirements

• Passion for wine and a good understanding of viticulture and oenology.
• Excellent public speaking and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Previous experience as a tour guide or in a customer-facing role, preferably within the wine or hospitality industry.
