Placements24 client, a renowned wine estate in Stellenbosch, is seeking a dynamic Wine Tourism Manager to develop and manage exceptional visitor experiences, including cellar tours, tastings, vineyard visits, and hospitality services. You will lead the tasting room and hospitality teams, design marketing initiatives to attract guests, manage budgets, and collaborate with sales to promote the estate’s offerings.

A deep wine knowledge and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in tourism management, hospitality, or related field with focus on wine tourism.
• Extensive knowledge of wine, viticulture, and winemaking processes.
• Proven experience in customer service and managing visitor experiences.
• Strong marketing, sales, and promotional skills.
• Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive wine tourism strategy for the estate.
• Oversee daily operations of the tasting room, cellar tours, and visitor centre.
• Create engaging wine tasting experiences and educational tours.
• Manage a team of cellar door staff, providing training and performance management.
• Develop marketing initiatives to attract domestic and international visitors.
• Manage budgets, pricing, and revenue for all wine tourism activities.
• Ensure exceptional customer service standards are met and exceeded.

This role is central to developing and managing exceptional wine tourism experiences for visitors, including cellar tours, wine tastings, vineyard excursions, and hospitality services. You will be responsible for enhancing the estate’s reputation as a premier wine tourism destination, driving visitor numbers, and ensuring a memorable and educational experience for every guest. The ideal candidate possesses a deep knowledge of wine, excellent customer service skills, strong marketing acumen, and a proven ability to manage operations and lead a team. • A passion for wine and delivering world-class hospitality.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Relevant qualifications in Wine Studies, Tourism Management, or Hospitality are preferred.
• Knowledge of the Stellenbosch wine region is highly beneficial.
