Qualifications

• Grade 12 certificate.
• At least 3 years of experience as a waiter or waitress (5 years for a Senior).
• Basic knowledge of wine and the surrounding wine regions.
• Hands-on experience with a cash register and POS ordering system.
• Good communication skills and a natural ability to connect with guests.
• Patient, attentive, and comfortable working with a distinguished, high-end clientele.
• Well-presented, reliable, and flexible — with a positive, enthusiastic attitude.
• Basic maths skills for handling bills and cash.

Responsibilities

• Welcome guests to your section, hand out menus and wine lists, and make sure everyone feels looked after from the moment they sit down.
• Know the menu inside out, including key ingredients and preparation, to answer questions and make recommendations.
• Set up and maintain tables with linen, cutlery, and glassware, keeping them guest-ready.
• Take orders accurately using the POS system and ensure they reach the kitchen and bar promptly.
• Clear used crockery between courses, offer desserts and coffee, and upsell where appropriate.
• Process bills accurately and keep the restaurant floor, fixtures, and uniform clean and presentable.
