Job summary

Placements24 is partnering with a Western Cape conservation charity to recruit a Volunteer Program Manager in George. You will design and implement volunteer recruitment, training, and ongoing support to ensure safe, meaningful engagement with conservation projects.

You will lead a diverse team of volunteers, coordinate schedules, track impact, and report to the management team, enabling the charity to expand its environmental work in the George area.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in volunteer management, human resources, or program coordination.
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire individuals from various backgrounds.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in the non-profit or environmental sector is a plus.
• Proficiency in standard office software and volunteer management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies for recruiting, screening, and onboarding new volunteers.
• Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for volunteers covering conservation tasks and safety protocols.
• Manage volunteer schedules, assignments, and ongoing support, ensuring adequate coverage for all activities.
• Foster a positive and supportive volunteer environment, addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
• Track volunteer hours, contributions, and impact, providing regular reports to the management team.
• Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and integrate them into conservation projects.
