Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Volunteer Coordinator & Engagement Lead in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal to recruit, train, manage and support a growing volunteer base. You will build relationships, foster engagement, and ensure volunteers have meaningful experiences that contribute to the nonprofit’s mission within the KwaZulu-Natal region.

The role emphasizes strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and experience in volunteer management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in volunteer coordination or management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
• Strong organizational abilities with meticulous attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Familiarity with volunteer management software or databases.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Familiarity with the Durban community is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement recruitment strategies for Durban volunteers.
• Screen and onboard volunteers based on skills and interests.
• Design and deliver orientation and training for volunteers.
• Provide ongoing support, supervision, and motivation to volunteers.
• Coordinate volunteer schedules and program/event assignments.
• Maintain volunteer records, hours served and training completion.
• Organize volunteer appreciation events and initiatives.
• Act as liaison between volunteers and the organization.
• Promote volunteer opportunities via social media, community events, and partnerships.
• Assist in developing policies and procedures related to volunteer management.
