Placements24 is seeking a dedicated VoIP Network Engineer to manage and optimize the organization’s voice infrastructure in Soweto. You will deploy, configure, and troubleshoot VoIP hardware and software to ensure reliable voice communication across the company.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in VoIP network engineering, hands-on experience with SIP, H.323, RTP, and platforms like Cisco CallManager, Asterisk, or FreeSWITCH, and strong TCP/IP networking and Wireshark skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, telecommunications or related field.
• 3–5 years' VoIP networking and administration experience.
• Proficiency with SIP, H.323, and RTP protocols.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain VoIP systems including PBX and IP phones.
• Monitor VoIP performance; resolve call quality, latency, or dropped calls.
• Implement VoIP security measures to prevent unauthorized access.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated VoIP Network Engineer to manage and optimize their voice communication infrastructure in Soweto . This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our Voice over IP systems. You will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting of VoIP hardware and software, ensuring seamless voice communication for the entire organization. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills in VoIP technologies, a solid understanding of networking principles, and a proactive approach to maintaining high-quality voice services.

Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and maintain VoIP systems, including PBX, IP phones, gateways, and voicemail systems.
• Monitor VoIP network performance, identify and resolve issues such as call quality degradation, latency, and dropped calls.
• Implement and manage VoIP security measures to protect against unauthorized access and fraud.
• Collaborate with network teams to ensure QoS (Quality of Service) is properly implemented for voice traffic.
• Provide Tier 2/3 technical support for VoIP-related incidents and user inquiries.
• Plan and execute system upgrades and capacity expansion projects for the VoIP infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience specifically with VoIP network engineering and administration.
• Proficiency with VoIP protocols such as SIP, H.323, and RTP.
