Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer for our client in Rustenburg, North West. The role focuses on developing and optimizing underground mine plans, leveraging Deswik, Vulcan and Surpac to enhance safety, productivity, and cost efficiency.

You will lead short- and long-term planning, collaborate with operations and geology teams, and ensure regulatory compliance while driving continuous improvement in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of underground mine planning and design experience.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan and Surpac.
• Strong geotechnical, ventilation and mining economics knowledge.
• Experience with large-scale underground operations.
• Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain detailed short- and long-term underground mine plans.
• Use Deswik, Vulcan and Surpac to design stopes, access routes and ventilation.
• Conduct geotechnical assessments and integrate findings into plans.
• Optimize production schedules to meet targets and costs.
• Collaborate with operations, survey and engineering teams.
• Perform reserve calculations and economic evaluations.
• Monitor progress and enforce HSE compliance.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations on mine planning outcomes.
