Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for an on-site role in Centurion, Gauteng. You will lead long-term mine planning for open-pit and underground operations, mentor junior engineers, and ensure safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in mine planning, proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac and Datamine, and a PE designation is preferred. You will collaborate across geologists and operations to optimize sequences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in Mining Engineering.
• 7+ years in mine planning and design with practical application.
• Open-pit and/or underground mine design experience.
• Proficient in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, Datamine.
• PE designation or eligibility preferred.
• Strong communication across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop long-term and short-term mine plans for open-pit and underground ops.
• Conduct feasibility studies and mine design optimization.
• Model geology and interpret resource estimates for planning.
• Use Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, Datamine for layouts and schedules.
• Evaluate mining methods, equipment, and strategies.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with teams.
• Analyze economics and perform sensitivity studies.
• Monitor performance and recommend corrective actions.
