Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a strategic Chief Mine Planner to lead mine planning operations in Rustenburg. You will oversee a team of planners, collaborating with geology, engineering and operations to translate resource models into executable mining strategies.

You will develop long- and short-term mine plans, optimize sequences and schedules, conduct feasibility studies, and supervise design, layout and economic analysis to maximize resource recovery, safety and cost efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
10+ years in mine planning and design with at least 3 years in leadership.
Proven expertise in Deswik, Vulcan and Surpac.
Strong knowledge of open pit and underground mining methods.
Experience in mining economics, project management and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage integrated mine plans across strategic, tactical and operational horizons.
Optimize mine sequences, production schedules and equipment utilization to meet targets.
Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and expansions.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of mine design and layout with safety and environmental constraints.
Collaborate with operations to ensure effective execution of the plan and identify improvements.
Mentor and manage the mine planning team, promoting continuous improvement and technical excellence.
