Job summary

GCO Partners in Cape Town delivers UK payroll expertise for UK clients from SA. They are building a dedicated payroll team and seek a UK Payroll Team Lead to oversee delivery across a portfolio of UK clients.

You will own payroll quality, review complex calculations, and establish effective controls and processes as the function grows, while collaborating with UK leadership to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of recent UK payroll experience.
• At least 2 years of experience supervising or leading a payroll team.
• Experience within an accountancy practice, payroll bureau or outsourced payroll environment.
• Strong experience managing multiple UK client payrolls with varying frequencies and deadlines.
• In-depth knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance and RTI submissions.
• Experience with statutory payments including SSP and family leave payments.
• Experience with workplace pensions, auto-enrolment and contributions.
• Experience with UK payroll platforms such as Sage 50, BrightPay, IRIS or Xero.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the new UK payroll team in Cape Town and oversee payroll delivery.
• Review complex payroll calculations and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Establish controls, processes and standards for payroll operations as the function grows.
• Collaborate with UK-based payroll leadership and client teams.
• Identify risks and drive process improvements across multiple client payrolls.
