Job summary

takealot.com, South Africa's leading online retailer, seeks a Payroll Lead to head the payroll function from Cape Town. You will manage end-to-end payroll operations, benefits administration, and reporting to the CFO and business units.

Successful candidates will bring 7–10 years payroll experience, leadership of a payroll/finance team, and strong Excel and Payspace proficiency, with a proactive, detail‑oriented mindset and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Degree or Advanced Diploma in an HR/Financial-related field.
• A minimum of 7-10 years payroll experience that include benefits administration.
• Knowledge of Payspace or other payroll systems.
• 3-4 years’ experience leading a payroll/finance team.
• Advanced Excel (V-lookups, pivot tables and graphs) /Google suite.
• Finance experience will be an added advantage.
• Reporting experience. Benefits management and administration.
• Attributes: Proactive and Assertive, Integrity.
• Delivery and detail oriented; customer satisfaction focus.
• Can do attitude; willingness to adapt.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong planning and organizing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage an end-to-end payroll service with accurate salary, overtime, bonuses, commissions and deductions.
• Develop and direct payroll reporting and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Lead payroll system enhancements and process improvements.
• Oversee benefits administration and provider relationships.
• Coordinate annual salary increase process and audits with Analytics.
• Maintain employee payroll records and confidentiality; ensure timely payments.
