Job summary

DataTech Recruitment in Cape Town is seeking a hands-on Tier 3 Network Engineer to own complex escalations, support infrastructure projects, and guide other engineers within a dynamic MSP environment.

You’ll work with Fortinet, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, VMware, Hyper‑V and other networking technologies across multiple client networks, mentoring juniors and delivering reliable, secure networks.

Location: Plattekloof, Cape Town. Salary: R30,000 – R36,000 CTC per month.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years’ experience in IT support, network engineering or infrastructure.
• Proven Tier 3 experience resolving complex technical issues independently.
• Strong networking knowledge covering TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, LAN/WAN.
• Hands-on experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and network security.
• Advanced knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Intune and Azure.
• Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper‑V.
• Knowledge of SAN/NAS storage, backups and disaster recovery (Veeam or Acronis).
• Familiarity with endpoint security, EDR and monitoring tools.
• PowerShell scripting and automation skills.
• Understanding of incident, problem and change management.
• Experience guiding engineers and delivering technical infrastructure projects.
• Certifications in Fortinet, CCNA, Azure AZ-104, Microsoft 365, VMware, Veeam, Sophos or ITIL are advantageous.

• Investigate recurring incidents, identify root causes and implement preventative solutions.

• Communicate with clients, manage technical expectations and maintain service delivery standards.

Tier 3 Network Engineer position available in Cape Town.

Our client, an established IT services company, is looking for an experienced Tier 3 Network Engineer to take ownership of complex technical escalations, support infrastructure projects and provide technical guidance to other engineers.

This is a hands‑on role in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment, working across multiple client networks and infrastructure platforms.

You’ll work with Fortinet, Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, VMware, Hyper‑V, networking and security technologies. You’ll also have the opportunity to mentor engineers and contribute to technical projects.

Location: Plattekloof, Cape Town.

Salary: R30,000 – R36,000 CTC per month.

Requirements:

• Advantageous Certifications
  • Relevant Fortinet, CCNA, Microsoft Azure (AZ-104), Microsoft 365, VMware, Veeam, Sophos or ITIL certifications will be advantageous.
  • Practical technical experience is equally important.
