Job summary

Capitec Bank Ltd. in Stellenbosch/Sandton is seeking a Test Automation Engineer to own end-to-end automated test suites for credit products. You will design coverage across origination, account management and data-driven processes, and create stubs/mocks to test against non-live systems.

You will work with data engineers and QA professionals, writing SQL queries to validate outcomes and tracking results to surface risks early. The role offers growth and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in test automation
• Solid working knowledge of Playwright or Selenium
• Familiarity with test management, QA practices, reporting and defect tracking
• Understanding of software development lifecycles, APIs and system integration concepts
• Experience with Node.js for service stubbing/mocking is advantageous
• Exposure to Kafka, AWS or credit/financial services environments is advantageous

Our credit products from term loans and credit cards to access facilities touch millions of South Africans everyday. Behind every decision that works, every account that behaves as expected, every flow that doesn't break,there's a quality engineer making sure the code is ready. We're growing our credit team and we need someonewho takes ownership of test quality not just test execution.

About the team

The Nexus Credit team works across some of our most complex and high-impact product areas: term loans,credit cards, access facilities, payday management and the data science models that drive credit decisions inthe background. The work is technically deep event-driven architectures, behavioural scoring, real-time financial data and the team is split across Stellenbosch and Sandton, so you can be based at either location.Half the team is already distributed, and it works well.

What we're looking for

• Grade 12 National Certificate
• A Relevant Tertiary Qualification
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in test automation
• Solid working knowledge of Playwright ortransferable tools such as Selenium
• SQL fundamentals, including PostgreSQL and/or SQL Server
• Familiarity with test management, quality assurance practices, reporting and defect tracking
• Understanding of software development lifecycles, APIs and system integration concepts
• The ability to analyse, interpret and validate system behaviour not just run scriptsService stubbing / mocking using Node.js is advantageous
• Exposure to Kafka, event-driven architecture, AWS cloud services or credit / financial servicesenvironments is advantageous
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills you'll work across engineering, product and data teams

Education (Minimum)

• Grade 12 National Certificate / Vocational
• Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology - Computer Science or Information Technology

Education (Ideal or Preferred)

• Software Testing - Foundation Level through the International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB)
