Job summary

Sappi is seeking a Temp Reliever: Technical to assist the Lab by providing leave/training relief and ensuring smooth operations. You will take over shifts, operate process equipment, collect samples, and perform ISO-compliant tests while reporting results via LIS.

Qualifications

• Matric with Maths and Physical Science or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
• National Diploma in Pulp and Paper or Chemical Engineering is advantageous.
• Minimum 3 months’ relevant experience in process/production in pulp and paper.

Responsibilities

• Take and hand over shift to ensure continuity.
• Operate process equipment following safety standards.
• Collect and prepare samples for analysis.
• Perform laboratory tests using instruments and ISO methods.
• Analyze samples and report data via LIS.
• Support SHEQ compliance and housekeeping during shifts.
• Assist skills transfer and development within the section.

We’re on the lookout for a Temp Reliever: Technical to assist the Lab in reducing overtime by providing leave/training relief.

As a Temp Reliever: Technical, you will be responsible for:

• Take and hand over shift, ensuring smooth operational continuity.
• Operate process equipment in line with best operating practices and safety standards.
• Collect and prepare samples for analysis.
• Perform laboratory tests using instruments and ISO-compliant methods.
• Analyze samples to generate accurate data and report results via LIS.
• Handle special sample requests as required.
• Participate in shift activities, housekeeping, SHEQ compliance, and BBS observations.
• Support employee development by sharing knowledge and enabling skills transfer within the section.

What are we looking for?

• Matric (Grade 12) with Maths & Physical Science or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
• A National Diploma in Pulp and Paper or Chemical Engineering will be advantageous.
• Minimum of 3 month’s relevant experience as a Process Trainee/ Production Intern within a production or pulp and paper environment.
