Job summary

Sappi is seeking a Process Relief Operator FBL 3 to support production by providing leave and training relief. The role involves operating plant equipment, performing shift handovers, and relieving operators across positions while maintaining safety and documentation.

Ideal candidates have a Matric with Math/Physical Science or an N3 in Pulp and Paper and at least 2 years of operational experience in a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Matric (Grade 12) with Maths and Physical Science or an N3 in Pulp and Paper.
• Minimum of 2 years’ operational experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform shift handovers and operate plant equipment according to SOPs and best practices.
• Relieve operators across designated positions and carry out duties associated with those roles.
• Complete section-specific operational tasks, interventions, and initiatives as planned.
• Assist the Foreman and operating staff during breakdowns and provide staff supervision support when required.
• Record shift incidents accurately, report equipment faults and breakdowns, and maintain operational documentation.
• Participate in problem-solving initiatives, progress meetings, training, and development activities to build operational competence.
• Comply with SHEQ requirements by identifying hazards, taking corrective action, and following company procedures.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards and contribute to a safe and efficient working environment through safety observations.
• Prepare and support Plant Start-Up and Operational Activities.

We’re on the lookout for a Process Relief Operator FBL 3 to assist production in reducing overtime by providing leave/training relief.

As a Process Relief Operator FBL 3, you will be responsible for:

• Perform shift handovers and operate plant equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures and best practices.
• Relieve operators across designated positions and carry out all duties associated with those roles.
• Complete section-specific operational tasks, interventions, and initiatives as planned.
• Assist the Foreman and operating staff during breakdowns and provide support with staff supervision when required.
• Record shift incidents accurately, report equipment faults and breakdowns, and maintain operational documentation.

• Comply with all Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) requirements by identifying hazards, taking corrective action, and following company procedures.
