Job summary

Sappi in Mbombela is seeking an Outside Operator KLB to safely and efficiently operate the plant, following SOPs and safety rules.

You will perform inspections, coordinate with Process Controllers, prepare clearance certificates and maintain strict safety and housekeeping standards to support reliable production.

Qualifications

• Operational production experience is required.
• Matric (Grade 12) with Maths and Physical Science or N3 in Pulp and Paper.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and plant operations is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Start up, operate and monitor the plant per approved procedures and safety rules.
• Perform regular visual inspections and report equipment issues.
• Maintain communication with Process Controllers to coordinate safe operation.
• Prepare clearance certificates for maintenance activities and isolate equipment as required.
• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and compliance.

We’re on the lookout for a Outside Operator KLB to safely and efficiently operate the equipment under his/her control, to ensure optimum production thereby reducing downtime.

As a Outside Operator KLB, you will be responsible for:

• Start up, operate and monitor the plant in accordance with approved operating procedures and safe work practices.
• Perform regular visual inspections and outside plant checks, identifying, rectifying and reporting equipment deficiencies and abnormal conditions.
• Maintain constant communication with Process Controllers via radio to ensure effective coordination and safe plant operation.
• Perform plant isolations and prepare clearance certificates for maintenance activities in accordance with safe work procedures.
• Identify, communicate and mitigate operational and safety risks within the area of responsibility.
• Conduct quality and performance checks to ensure the plant operates within required standards and specifications.
• Initiate maintenance notifications to the relevant Maintenance Departments and follow up on identified equipment or plant-related deficiencies.
• Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and operational compliance, including completing audits, checklists and required safety activities.

What are we looking for?

• Matric (Grade 12) with Math’s and Physical Science or an N3 in Pulp and Paper.
• 1-3 years relevant operational production experience.
