placements24 is seeking a Telecoms Field Engineer to install, configure, maintain and troubleshoot advanced telecoms systems at customer premises in Klerksdorp. You will be on-site, delivering expert technical support with a focus on quality workmanship and safety.

Responsibilities include testing equipment, diagnosing faults, performing preventive maintenance and training customers. A minimum of 3 years in field service and a valid driver’s license are required; a company vehicle is provided.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of field service/telecoms experience.
• Experience with fibre optic and copper cabling technologies.
• Familiar with OTDR and spectrum analyzers.
• Able to read network diagrams and technical specs.
• Valid driver’s license and safety-focused.

About the Role

This vital role involves the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of advanced telecommunications systems, including broadband, voice, and data services, at customer premises and network points. You will be the face of our client on-site, ensuring seamless service delivery and providing expert technical support. Key Responsibilities

• Install, activate, and test telecommunications equipment and services at customer locations, ensuring optimal performance.
• Diagnose and repair faults in voice, data, and video networks, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools.
• Perform preventative maintenance on network infrastructure to ensure reliability and prevent service disruptions.
• Manage and maintain a stock of essential equipment and parts, ensuring efficient inventory control.
• Provide technical assistance and training to customers on service usage and basic troubleshooting.
• Document all service calls, technical findings, and resolutions accurately in the company's field service system.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Telecoms Engineer or in a related field service role.
• Strong understanding of fibre optic and copper cabling technologies, including installation and termination.
• Proficiency with common telecommunications testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, spectrum analyzers).
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and technical specifications.
• A valid driver's license and a strong commitment to safety regulations.
