About the Role

Our client, a provider of essential communication services, is seeking a diligent Telecommunications Field Service Technician to serve the Vereeniging, Gauteng area. This role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing a range of telecommunications equipment, including broadband internet, television services, and telephone lines, directly at customer premises. You will be the face of our client in the community, responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and technical expertise. The ideal candidate is reliable, technically proficient, and enjoys hands-on work in a field-based role. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment at customer locations (e.g., modems, routers, set-top boxes, fibre optic termination points).


• Troubleshoot and repair issues related to internet, television, and telephone services.


• Perform diagnostic tests to identify faults in customer premises wiring and equipment.


• Educate customers on the use of their newly installed or repaired equipment and services.


• Adhere to safety protocols and company procedures during all field operations.


• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including service orders and inventory.


• Manage assigned work schedules and respond to service calls in a timely manner.


• Report any recurring technical issues or network problems encountered in the field.


• Ensure customer satisfaction through professional conduct and efficient service delivery.

Requirements

• Previous experience (1-2 years) as a Field Technician, Installer, or in a similar hands-on technical role, preferably in the telecommunications or electronics sector.


• Proficiency in installing and troubleshooting residential telecommunications equipment (modems, routers, Wi-Fi devices).


• Familiarity with cable types (coaxial, Ethernet, fibre optic) and termination techniques.


• Strong understanding of basic networking concepts.


• Excellent customer service and communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.


• Possession of a valid driver's license and a clean driving record is mandatory.


• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends, as required for service calls in Vereeniging, Gauteng.


• Ability to work safely and competently at heights (e.g., on ladders) and in various weather conditions.


• Basic understanding of telephony systems is a plus.
