Job summary

Genasys is seeking a Technical Writer to create clear, concise technical documentation for our insurance software platform. You will work with Development, Product, Training and Sales & Marketing to gather requirements and produce manuals, guides, and process docs that are easy to understand.

You will collect information from SMEs, structure it, and deliver audience-focused documentation, diagrams, and workflows that support product adoption and customer success.

Qualifications

• Experience as Technical Writer in a software development environment.
• Portfolio of evidence for technical writing work.
• Experience with creating technical documents including text, diagrams, workflows and visuals.
• Experience reviewing and refining existing technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Source product information and gain an in-depth understanding of the product and documentation requirements.
• Research and gather information from subject‑matter experts, outline, organise, and develop technical product documents, manuals, and process documentation.
• Produce high-quality documentation that meets the requirements and is appropriate for the intended audience.
• Develop simple, user-friendly technical documents.
• Create audience‑appropriate user-friendly product documentation detailing the product, the features, how to use the features, and the benefits thereof.
• Create configuration support documents and manuals.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Technical Writer is responsible for the creation of technical documentation that clarifies the product’s technical specifications, features, and benefits.

The role collaborates with various internal stakeholders, including the Development team, the Product team, the Training Department, and the Sales & Marketing department, utilizing client requirements and scope documents to create technical product documents.

The role engages with the various stakeholders to gather product information, collate this, and craft this into clear, concise technical documents that benefit the company.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Technical Documentation

• Source product information and gain an in-depth understanding of the product and documentation requirements.
• Research and gather information from subject‑matter experts, and outline, organise, and develop technical product documents, manuals, and process documentation.
• Produce high-quality documentation that meets the requirements and is appropriate for the intended audience.

Product Documentation

• Create audience‑appropriate user‑friendly product documentation detailing the product, the features, how to use the features, and the benefits thereof.

ABOUT YOU

Your experience and qualifications:

• Previous working experience as a Technical Writer or similar role in a software development environment.
• Previous working experience in the creation of technical documents for software products, which may include text, diagrams, workflows, and visuals.
• Portfolio of evidence for Technical Writer work that can be provided.
• Previous working experience in the review and refinement of existing technical documents.
• Experience with documentation tools such as Confluence, Notion or similar.
• Experience with Visual/Diagramming tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, draw.io or similar.
• Good understanding of the SDLC and software development
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
