Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a specialized Legal Counsel with Technology/IP expertise to join a hybrid legal team in Polokwane. You will protect and commercialize the company's IP assets and provide guidance on technology agreements.

You will draft and negotiate licensing agreements, manage IP portfolios, and advise on data privacy and emerging technologies in a dynamic environment that supports innovation and legal excellence.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with 5+ years in technology and IP law.
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex technology agreements.
• Strong understanding of patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law.
• Experience with data privacy regulations (GDPR, POPIA).
• Analytical and strategic thinker with a hybrid work capability.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate technology and intellectual property agreements (e.g., software licenses, development agreements, NDAs).
• Manage the company's patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios.
• Advise on IP strategy, including protection, enforcement, and monetization.
• Provide legal counsel on data privacy, cybersecurity, and emerging technology issues.
• Conduct IP due diligence for potential acquisitions and partnerships.
• Stay current with IP law developments and provide strategic insights.
