Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Scientist to ensure compliance and sustainability at mining operations near Polokwane. You will conduct EIAs, monitor environmental parameters, and develop mitigation strategies in collaboration with operations and regulators.

This hybrid role blends on-site fieldwork with remote data analysis and reporting, requiring strong reporting, communication, and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management within mining.
• Strong understanding of South African environmental legislation and permitting processes.
• Experience with environmental monitoring equipment and data analysis.
• Excellent report writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both field and office settings within a hybrid arrangement.

Responsabilités

• Conduct Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and audits for mining projects.
• Monitor air quality, water quality, noise levels, and biodiversity at mine sites.
• Develop and implement environmental management plans (EMPs) and rehabilitation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with national and international environmental regulations and permitting requirements.
• Prepare environmental reports, technical documents, and presentations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, and legal departments on environmental matters.
