Job summary

Premier FMCG (Pty) Ltd seeks a seasoned Quality Control Lead for its Johannesburg operation. You will lead the QC team, ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards, and drive continuous improvement across QA processes.

You will monitor quality records, manage audits, and implement corrective actions while coaching staff to maintain high performance and compliance with POPI, HSE, and food defense requirements.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years’ experience in a Food or Beverage manufacturing industry.
• At least 4 years’ supervisory experience.
• Diploma or BTech in Food Technology or equivalent qualification.
• Experience implementing and maintaining ISO/FSSC22000 quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Quality Control team.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, and regulatory standards.
• Monitor product quality, inspections, testing, and quality records.
• Conduct audits, verifications, and quality assurance activities.
• Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee cleaning, sanitation, and environmental monitoring programs.
• Manage quality control equipment, stock, and shelf-life controls.
• Provide training, coaching, and competency assessments for Quality Controllers.
• Support employee relations, attendance management, and team performance.
• Promote a strong food safety and quality culture across the plant.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Food Defense requirements.

Job Purpose

Experience and Qualifications

• Grade 12
• Diploma or BTech in Food Technologist
• At least 6 years’ experience in a Food or Beverage manufacturing industry
• At least 4 years’ supervisory experience
• Food Technology qualification

Skills and Competencies

• Strong knowledge of food safety systems, including ISO standards, PRPs, and food safety protocols
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
• HACCP
• FSSC 22000 and related Technical standards
• Microsoft Office suite
• Shopware system
