Job summary

Gold One Group Limited is seeking a Senior Safety Officer Mining (Grading C4) to lead health and safety oversight in underground trackless operations.

You will conduct audits, investigate incidents, implement ISO 45001 standards, and develop hazard controls while ensuring legal compliance and accurate report writing.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent NQF qualification.
• Recognised Blasting Certificate holder.
• COMSOC I & II.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001.
• Valid driver''s licence.
• South African Citizenship.
• Clear Criminal Record.
• Minimum 5 years'' underground trackless safety officer experience.
• Proficiency in English and other official languages.

Responsibilities

• Conduct health and safety audits in the workplace and give remedial actions where required.
• Identify, analyse, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
• Participate in developing hazard control programmes.
• Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control programmes.
• Analyse incidents and non-conformances to identify deficiencies and contributing factors in SHE management.
• Facilitate investigations.
• Facilitate and participate in SHE meetings.
• Communicate standards and procedures to stakeholders.
• Perform health and safety duties on the mine per Gold1 standards.
• Adhere to MHSA standards & Gold1’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely.”

SENIOR SAFETY OFFICER MINING (Grading C4)

Qualifying Criteria:

• Grade 10, 11, 12 or equivalent NQF qualifications
• Recognised Blasting Certificate holder.
• A shift supervisor certificate will be advantageous.
• Both conventional and trackless mining experience will be advantageous.
• Minimum 5 years’ previous experience as a safety officer, having worked in an underground trackless environment.
• Computer literacy (MS packages with emphasis on Excel)
• Must have good report writing skills.
• Must be in the position of COMSOC I & II
• Knowledge and practical experience in SHE system implementation and auditing
• Knowledge of relevant legislation, mine standards and procedures (ISO 45001)
• Knowledge of investigation and auditing systems
• Knowledge of risk assessments and risk management
• Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
• Must have a valid driver's licence.
• South African Citizenship
• Clear Criminal Record
