Placements24 in Randburg is seeking an experienced Subsurface Geoscientist to join our team. You will integrate geological and geophysical data to build subsurface models and support exploration decisions.

The role requires a strong background in geology or geophysics, 7+ years in oil and gas, and proficiency with Petrel/GeoModel, seismic interpretation, and well log analysis. Strong communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

Master's degree or PhD in Geology, Geophysics, or related geoscience.
Minimum 7 years of subsurface geoscience experience in oil and gas.
Proficient in Petrel, GeoModel, and seismic interpretation software.
Strong knowledge of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentology.
Experience in petrophysics and well log analysis is essential.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Integrate geological, geophysical, and engineering data to create detailed 3D subsurface models.
Interpret seismic data to identify structures, stratigraphy, and reservoir zones.
Perform petrophysical analysis of well logs to evaluate reservoir properties.
Assess geological risks and uncertainties for exploration and development.
Collaborate with reservoir engineers and drilling teams to optimize well planning.
Contribute to exploration and appraisal strategies based on subsurface understanding.
