Placements24 in Benoni, Gauteng, seeks a Senior Geophysicist to lead exploration analyses and model subsurface prospects using seismic data. You will work with geologists and reservoir engineers to shape our hydrocarbon exploration strategy.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's or PhD in Geophysics or a related field, with 7+ years in oil and gas exploration, and strong skills in Petrel, HampsonRussell, and OpenDTect. You will mentor junior staff and drive innovative geophysical methods.

Qualifications

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geophysics, Physics, or related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in exploration geophysics, ideally within the Oil & Gas sector.
Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation and processing software (Petrel, HampsonRussell, OpendTect).
Strong understanding of seismic acquisition, processing, and interpretation principles.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience with attribute analysis and inversion techniques is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Process, interpret, and integrate seismic data (2D/3D) to map subsurface structures and stratigraphy.
Perform attribute analysis, AVO, and inversion studies to de-risk exploration prospects.
Collaborate with geologists to integrate geophysical interpretations with geological models.
Contribute to the planning and acquisition of new seismic surveys.
Evaluate exploration opportunities and provide geophysical input for prospect assessments and reserves estimation.
Mentor junior geophysicists and stay current with emerging geophysical technologies.
