Placements24 in Soweto is seeking a Senior Geoscientist to join their integrated subsurface team. You will interpret seismic, well logs, and core data to build detailed subsurface models and evaluate hydrocarbon potential, supporting production optimization.

The ideal candidate has extensive seismic interpretation and 3D geological modeling experience in the oil and gas exploration and production sector, with collaboration across reservoir and drilling engineers.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related Earth Science discipline.
• A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in subsurface interpretation and geological modeling in the energy industry.
• Proficiency in leading seismic interpretation software packages (e.g., Petrel, HampsonRussell, Kingdom Suite).
• Strong understanding of structural geology, stratigraphy, and sedimentary basin analysis.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed seismic data interpretation, including horizon tracking, fault mapping, and attribute analysis.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and geological models to generate comprehensive subsurface interpretations.
• Develop and refine 3D geological models that accurately represent reservoir architecture and properties.
• Assess geological risks and uncertainties associated with exploration prospects and development targets.
• Collaborate with reservoir engineers, drilling engineers, and other geoscientists in a multidisciplinary team environment.
