Placements24 is seeking an experienced Subsurface Geologist for a fully remote role. You will interpret geological data, build subsurface models, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to de-risk prospects and optimize well placement from your home office.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in upstream geology, expertise in seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy and petrophysical analysis, and strong communication skills for a remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Geology or related earth science.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in subsurface geology within upstream oil & gas.
• Proven expertise in seismic interpretation, sequence stratigraphy, and petrophysical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and integrate subsurface data including seismic, logs, core and production information.
• Develop and refine geological models (structural and stratigraphic) for exploration and development assets.
• Identify and evaluate exploration prospects and development opportunities.
• Perform detailed risk assessments related to subsurface uncertainties.
• Collaborate with geophysicists, reservoir and drilling engineers to optimize well targets and drilling programs.

• Proficiency with geological modeling and visualization software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix).
• Strong understanding of structural geology and basin analysis.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex geological concepts effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
• Experience in unconventional reservoir characterization is a plus.
