Placements24 is seeking a talented Subsurface Geologist to join a fully remote exploration and development team. The role focuses on evaluating ventures, characterizing assets, and applying geological expertise to drilling and field development projects.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in structural/stratigraphic geology, sedimentology, well log analysis, and geological modeling using Petrel or similar software. Remote work requires excellent communication and self-management.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Geology or related Earth Science.
• 6+ years of subsurface geology experience, preferably oil & gas.
• Experience with Petrel, GeoGraphix and Rosetta.
• Strong seismic interpretation and reservoir modeling skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform geological mapping, correlation, and structural/stratigraphic analysis.
• Develop and interpret well logs, core data, and other subsurface information.
• Create and maintain geological models, including static reservoir models.
• Identify and evaluate drilling prospects and development opportunities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across geoscience and engineering.
• Prepare technical reports and geological summaries for stakeholders.
• Contribute to exploration strategy development and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Geology or a related Earth Science discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in subsurface geology, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
• Proven experience with geological modeling software (e.g., Petrel, GeoGraphix, Rosetta).
• Strong skills in well log analysis, core description, and biostratigraphy.
• Solid understanding of seismic interpretation principles and integration with geological models.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, crucial for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively in a remote setting.
• Experience with carbonate and/or clastic depositional systems.
• Familiarity with basin analysis and petroleum systems modeling is a plus.
