Qualifications

• NQF Level 4 or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in substation maintenance or power systems operations.
• Proficiency in testing and calibrating substation protection relays and control systems.
• Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical equipment and safety protocols.
• Ability to work in a team and independently, often under pressure.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to work shifts and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, testing, and repair of substation equipment such as transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and batteries.
• Conduct routine inspections of substation components and infrastructure to identify potential issues.
• Respond to and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and power system disturbances.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
