The role requires an NQF Level 4/5 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, a minimum of 3 years’ experience in substations, and proficiency in testing, commissioning, and reading schematics.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a technician in electrical substations.
• Relevant technical qualification in electrical engineering (NQF 4/5 or equivalent).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
• Solid understanding of electrical safety procedures and LOTO protocols.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, testing, and inspection of substation equipment (transformers, circuit breakers, relays).
• Respond to and troubleshoot electrical faults and outages in substation environments.
• Install, commission, and calibrate new substation apparatus and protection systems.
• Adhere to safety protocols for working in high-voltage areas.
