Qualifications

• National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current or Heavy Current) or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in substation maintenance or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical equipment, testing procedures, and safety protocols (e.g., LOTO).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Proficiency in using test equipment and diagnostic tools for electrical systems.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing to work occasional overtime and call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on substation apparatus, including transformers, circuit breakers, and switchgear.
• Conduct diagnostic testing and troubleshooting of electrical faults within the substation.
• Execute planned maintenance activities and respond to emergency repair calls as needed.
• Ensure all work is performed in compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, test results, and equipment status.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new substation equipment.
