About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Structural Engineering Manager to lead their structural engineering division in Paarl, Western Cape . This leadership role will oversee a team of talented engineers and technicians, ensuring the successful delivery of complex structural projects across various sectors, including commercial, industrial, and residential developments. You will be responsible for technical oversight, project management, client liaison, and team development. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of structural analysis and design principles, combined with strong leadership qualities and a proven ability to manage projects from conception to completion. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of structural engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and performance management.
• Oversee the structural design process for a wide range of building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
• Act as the primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
• Review and approve structural designs, calculations, specifications, and drawings.
• Develop and implement quality assurance and quality control procedures for structural engineering projects.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements within the structural engineering department.
• Contribute to business development activities, including proposal writing and client relationship management.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on all projects.
• Stay current with advancements in structural engineering practices, materials, and technologies.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA is essential.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in structural engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex structural projects from start to finish.
• Extensive knowledge of structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Revit Structure) and design codes (e.g., SANS).
• Strong understanding of building materials, construction methods, and project management principles.
• Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
• Experience in client liaison and business development is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with the Western Cape construction market and regulatory environment.
