Job summary

Placements24 in Midrand, Gauteng, seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design and execution of complex building projects across commercial, residential, and industrial sectors. You will collaborate with architects and other engineers to deliver safe, sustainable structures, from concept to completion.

Requirements include a BEng/BS Civil or Structural, a Master’s preferred, PrEng registration or eligibility, 7+ years of experience, and proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, or STAAD.Pro.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is highly preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in structural engineering design for buildings.
• Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant international building codes.
• Excellent understanding of construction materials including concrete, steel, and masonry.
• Proven leadership experience and ability to mentor junior staff.
• Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive structural analysis and design for new construction and renovation projects.
• Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports in compliance with relevant building codes and standards.
• Review and approve shop drawings and submittals from contractors and fabricators.
• Perform site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers.
• Manage project timelines and deliverables related to structural engineering components.
