Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Intermediate Structural Engineer for our client in Soweto, Gauteng. You will perform structural analysis and design for commercial, residential and institutional projects, collaborating with senior engineers and architects.

Responsibilities include preparing calculations, drawings and specifications, reviewing shop drawings, conducting site visits, and ensuring compliance with SANS codes and local regulations.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
• Eligible for ECSA Pr.Eng or Candidate registration.
• Proficient with SAP2000/ETABS and CAD tools (AutoCAD/Revit).
• Strong knowledge of SANS codes and local Gauteng regulations.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for various building types under supervision.
• Prepare calculations, drawings and specifications using industry-standard software.
• Assist in reviewing shop drawings and respond to site queries during construction.
• Conduct site visits to observe construction progress and verify design compliance.
• Collaborate with project teams, including architects and other engineering disciplines.
• Ensure designs adhere to SANS codes and local building regulations.
• Contribute to technical reports and project documentation.
• Support development of project proposals and client communications.
• Learn and apply new design techniques and software tools.
• Coordinate structural elements with other building systems in Soweto.
