Placements24 is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer for open-pit operations near Paarl in the Western Cape. You will design mine layouts, schedule production, and optimize sequences to meet targets safely and efficiently within a dynamic mining team.

Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
Minimum 6 years of experience in open-pit mine planning and design.
Proficiency in Vulcan, Deswik or similar planning software.
Solid understanding of mine economics, resource modeling, and geostatistics.
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain long-term, medium-term, and short-term mine plans for open-pit operations.
Optimize mine designs, including pit outlines, haul roads, and production sequencing, considering economic factors.
Generate schedules for drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining areas or project expansions.
Collaborate closely with geological, survey, and operational teams to ensure plan alignment and feasibility.
Monitor actual production against planned targets and implement adjustments as needed.
