Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Buyer specialized in indirect materials for a prestigious wine and spirits producer in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role focuses on IT, marketing, facilities and professional services, driving cost-effective procurement and supplier excellence.

You will develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and ensure high quality procurement that supports brand integrity. Office-based in a vineyard setting with strong emphasis on strategic thinking and stakeholder

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce.
• 5-7 years of procurement experience focusing on indirect materials/services.
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing, negotiation and contract management for indirect spend.
• Strong understanding of procurement best practices and supply chain principles.
• Excellent analytical, data interpretation and market intelligence skills.
• Outstanding communication, negotiation and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) and e-procurement tools.
• Experience in FMCG or wine/spirits is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with integrity.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans for indirect categories.
• Lead supplier identification, evaluation, negotiation, and selection for indirect spend.
• Manage key supplier relationships and conduct regular performance reviews.
• Analyze spend data and market info to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with IT, HR, Marketing and Operations to deliver procurement solutions.
• Negotiate favorable contract terms, pricing and SLAs.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and budgets.
• Monitor vendor performance and address issues promptly.
• Stay updated on market trends and best practices in indirect procurement.
• Support procurement process improvements and best practices.
