Placements24 is seeking a strategic Category Manager in Stellenbosch to oversee indirect procurement including IT, marketing, facilities, and professional services. You will develop category strategies, lead supplier negotiations, and deliver cost savings while building strong stakeholder relationships across the organization.

The role requires strong analytical capabilities, market knowledge, and collaboration with internal teams to align procurement with business goals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in category management or strategic sourcing, specifically in indirect procurement.
• Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings and improving supplier performance.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with e-sourcing tools and procurement platforms.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute category strategies for indirect spend areas, optimizing value and managing risk.
• Lead complex sourcing projects and negotiations for key indirect categories.
• Manage and develop relationships with strategic suppliers within assigned categories.
• Conduct spend analysis and market research to identify sourcing opportunities and best practices.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and ensure alignment with procurement strategies.
• Monitor category performance, track savings, and report on key metrics to senior management.
