Placements24 seeks an experienced Fleet Operations Manager to lead all fleet activities from George, Western Cape. You will drive procurement, maintenance, and compliance, ensuring optimal uptime and cost efficiency across a 50+ vehicle fleet.

Lead a dedicated team, implement fleet software, and oversee driver safety programs while aligning with national regulations and environmental standards. This role rewards strategic leadership and a focus on continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 7 years of experience in fleet management, with a significant portion focused on commercial or industrial fleets.
• Experience managing a fleet of 50+ vehicles is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair procedures, and fleet management technologies.
• Expertise in South African transport regulations, road safety standards, and environmental compliance.
• Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
• Excellent financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and MS Office Suite.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience operating within the Western Cape region and understanding its unique logistical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic fleet management plans to optimize operational efficiency and cost savings.
• Manage the procurement, leasing, and disposal of all fleet vehicles.
• Oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing schedules for the entire fleet to ensure maximum uptime.
• Ensure all vehicles and operations comply with national and provincial transportation laws, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the fleet management team, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
• Implement and manage fleet management software for tracking, reporting, and data analysis.
• Monitor fuel consumption, identify trends, and implement strategies for fuel efficiency.
• Manage insurance claims, accident investigations, and driver safety programs.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, service providers, and regulatory bodies.
• Conduct regular audits of fleet operations and maintenance records in George, Western Cape.
