Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Fleet Manager for a leading national logistics firm, based in Centurion, Gauteng. This hybrid role blends on-site fleet operations management with remote administrative tasks, demanding strategic thinking and strong leadership to optimise performance and cost efficiency.

You will oversee maintenance, procurement, and compliance, monitor driver performance, manage the fleet budget, and use fleet management software to track data and costs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in fleet management.
• Proven experience with fleet management software and systems.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Budgeting and financial management capabilities.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience managing a large fleet of commercial vehicles.
• Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic plans for fleet operations to reduce costs.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of all vehicles to meet safety and operational standards.
• Manage procurement, leasing, and disposal of fleet vehicles.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and legislation.
• Monitor driver performance, conduct reviews, and provide coaching and training.
• Implement and manage fuel management programs to control costs.
• Utilize fleet management software to track vehicle data, maintenance schedules, and costs.
• Develop and manage the annual fleet budget, identifying cost savings.
• Investigate and resolve vehicle or driver-related incidents, accidents, or complaints.
• Maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
