Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced and strategic Fleet Manager to oversee a large vehicle fleet in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. You will lead fleet operations, drive cost efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance while aligning with long-term fleet strategy.

The role requires 5–7 years of fleet management experience, a relevant degree, and proven leadership. You will manage budgets, negotiate with suppliers, and mentor a professional team in a hybrid work setting at our transport & logistics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation, business admin, or related field.
• 5–7 years of progressive fleet management experience.
• Experience managing large, diverse vehicle fleets.
• Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
• Proficiency with fleet software and telematics.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fleet management strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Oversee daily fleet operations: scheduling, routing, and dispatch.
• Manage vehicle maintenance programs to ensure safety and uptime.
• Ensure compliance with road transport regulations, licensing and permits.
• Negotiate acquisition and disposal of fleet vehicles with suppliers.
• Manage fleet budget including fuel, maintenance and insurance costs.
• Lead and mentor the fleet management team.
• Utilize fleet software and telematics to monitor performance and driver behavior.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety and operations.
