Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Logistics Fleet Manager to lead our client’s vehicle operations in Upington, Northern Cape. You will oversee daily fleet activities, maintenance, fuel management, and driver supervision to ensure safe and cost-efficient transport.

The role requires strong leadership, regulatory knowledge, and budget management. You will collaborate with dispatch, maintenance, and operations teams to optimize utilization, reduce downtime, and improve performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of progressive experience in fleet management within logistics/transportation.
• Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, repair, and management systems.
• Understanding of transportation regulations (road safety, hours, emissions).
• Proven experience in budget management and cost control for fleet operations.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in fleet management software and MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the vehicle fleet for optimal utilization and performance.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and repair costs.
• Oversee vehicle acquisition, disposal, and replacement programs.
• Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Manage fuel purchasing programs and strategies to control fuel costs.
• Supervise, train, and evaluate fleet drivers, ensuring adherence to policies and performance standards.
• Maintain accurate fleet records, including maintenance logs, insurance, registration, and driver information.
• Analyze fleet performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop and manage the annual fleet budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
• Coordinate with maintenance providers to ensure timely and quality repairs.
