Job summary

Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority is seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to uphold positive employee relations, manage workplace conflicts, provide specialist advice, and ensure fair, compliant employment practices in a fixed-term capacity.

The role requires SA labour law knowledge, experience in grievances and investigations, and the ability to coach managers on disciplinary and performance matters. Based at HWSETA head office, Bedfordview.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Labour Relations or a related field.
• 5 to 8 years' experience in Employee Relations or Labour Relations.
• Experience in a unionised environment and CCMA processes advantageous.
• Knowledge of SA labour legislation (LRA, BCEA, EEA, OHSA, POPIA).

Responsibilities

• Handle employee grievances and workplace concerns.
• Mediate and resolve workplace conflicts.
• Draft disciplinary charges and manage investigations.
• Advise management on disciplinary procedures and fair practice.
• Monitor and report on employee relations trends and risks.
• Coach managers on policies, disciplinary, grievance and termination processes.
• Maintain confidential employee relations records and case files.
• Coordinate CCMA, bargaining councils and labour dispute matters.
• Support engagement and change management initiatives.
