Job summary

The Recruitment Pig in Stellenbosch is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to manage the general ledger, reconcile accounts, payroll, and tax submissions. You will ensure timely supplier payments and maintain accurate financial records for external audits.

Requirements include Matric with accounting or maths, a bookkeeping qualification, 5+ years of hands-on experience, and proficiency in Sage Pastel or Xero. Local Stellenbosch applicants preferred.

Qualifications

• Matric certificate with accounting or mathematics as a main subject.
• Diploma or certificate in Bookkeeping, Accounting, or a related field.
• At least five years of solid hands-on experience in bookkeeping.
• Proven ability to prepare accurate files ready for annual external audits.
• Good experience with Sage Pastel, Xero, or similar accounting computer software.
• Practical knowledge of monthly SARS tax submissions and standard VAT returns.
• A positive attitude, great team spirit, and strong willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Keep the full general ledger up to date using modern accounting software.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and cash records every single month.
• Manage supplier accounts and prepare regular payment runs accurately on time.
• Track customer accounts and collect outstanding payments in a polite manner.
• Handle monthly staff payroll and accurately calculate standard employee tax figures.
• Submit monthly SARS tax returns like VAT201 and EMP201 without delays.
• Prepare clear month-end trial balances and balance sheets for external auditors.
